I’ll make no bones about it, I don’t like programs like Glee. I’m not the kind of person you’d describe as all singing, all dancing and it’s all just a bit too “smiley” for me. BUT I am a massive fan of ridiculously funny viral videos and this is one of the best I’ve seen in a long time. I was shown the video by a friend who was looking for Planet Rock (the name of this particular song) but by Afrika Bambaataa. Even though that is seriously more cool than this guy, I can’t help but be mesmerised by John Jacobson’s moves.

I don’t come from a dancing background so my knowledge of choreography is pretty weak, but before watching this video had anyone ever heard of Double Dream Hands? I get the feeling that if Michael Jackson hadn’t settled on the moonwalk, he would have created something special like the DDH.

So who in their right mind would want to watch an overly enthusiastic, camp man teach a dance in front of a black curtain? Well at the time of writing this article it’s had a whopping 870,000 hits and it’s only been on YouTube one week! It’s becoming so much of a phenomenon that it’s already inspired tons of parodies, the best of which being a Beyonce “Single Ladies” mash-up. Not sure who deserves my attention the most in that one. Better stick with B’s booty!

I’m not going to start watching Glee anytime soon but this video has tickled me no end, although part of it’s appeal for me could be that John Jacobson looks like a South African debt collector that I know. Strange!
