What’s the most famous department store in the world? Well, Macy’s is certainly the biggest; it occupies an entire New York block. Harrods has arguably the most anticipated sale known to man. What about Bloomingdales? Their brown bags are instantly recognisable wherever you go. Granted, these shops are all pretty famous for lots of different reasons, but when we look solely at the quality of the goods that they stock and dedication to finding the most exclusive garments, nowhere can compete with Harvey Nichols. This legendary, luxury fashion emporium is the first stop for many a celebrity when shopping for the hottest clobber, with customers ranging from film stars to footballers. So when the buyer for Harvey Nicks comes knocking, you know you’re doing something right. And that’s exactly what has happened to the good people at Trainerspotter.
Harvey Nichols have been long time admirers of the streetwear brand and wanted to stock them for a while, the only sticking point was that due to their immaculate reputation, they requested that Trainerspotter produce some pieces to be exclusively sold from their stores and nowhere else. After much contemplation the two came to an agreement; instead of creating new designs, they would give some of the existing summer collection a high end makeover.
But how? It’s all in the printing my dear Watson. They decided that the standard colours of the t-shirts would be replaced with foil prints, giving a more sophisticated metallic look. For example, the bomb design that was previously yellow has been replaced with gold. But that’s not all. The labels have been woven with a golden font instead of the regular silver, exclusive black and gold swing tags have been added and to prove that you’ll only find these on the shelves at Harvey Nicks, they’ve sewn in their own label into the neck.
The collection looks awesome and I have no doubt that it will be popular amongst the shopping elite, especially when you consider each design is limited to just 12 pieces! So if you want to grab one head down to the flagship store in Knightsbridge, but heed my advice, you’d better be wearing some barmy sh*t or garments that are the sh*t.
For all other Trainerspotter items, hit up their store.
Feels like only yesterday I was moaning that not enough labels collaborate with stores….
