Bape Pop-Up Pirate Store London Part II

Jun 21st, 2011   •   By    •   No Comments

News has been released this week that Bape are having a second bash at a pop-up pirate store in London. For those not familiar with the concept of a pirate store, Bape will be selling previously unreleased samples, factory seconds and deadstock from the temporary store.

It’s being held at the Old Truman Brewery in London (the location of the first pop-up) and will be running from July 2nd-10th. Each day new products will be introduced to avoid the whole first come-first served dilemma, which is pretty cool but also creates its own issue in the sense that you might just go on a day with less “quality” goodies up for grabs.

I was fortunate enough to visit the first pirate store earlier in the year which I felt was a bit of a mixed bag. There were a few pieces of hidden treasure to be had, but unfortunately a lot of the clothing was so bad I wouldn’t wipe my booty with.

Is this a sign of things to come with Bape? When Nigo sold the majority of the comapny back in February, we wondered what the m.o. was going to be for the new owners. Is A Bathing Ape becoming less exclusive? Will we be seeing it in department stores in the near future? Are there going to be regular sales?

In the words of a pirate Kel: “Aaargh, here it goes”!
