Bape’s NYC Store NOT Closing… For Now
Remember that article I wrote about Bape’s NYC store closing down? No? Good, ’cause it’s not happening. Not now, at least. For a few days, a lot of people believed that I was, given the real estate listing, the price hikes, and the mug giveaway promotion (still going on, by the way) if you made a purchase of $250 or more. People who worked for Bape told me they weren’t closing down, but I didn’t believe them, mainly because that’s what people said before Bape LA closed. However, it is now certain; Bape’s official American Twitter addressed the rumors with this tweet:
Now don’t get me wrong, I’m really happy that the store isn’t closing down, but notice how they said, “…will not be closing 7/30″. If they weren’t closing at all they would’ve said that they weren’t closing, period. In my opinion, I think Bape is really saying that they aren’t closing for now, but will be closing sometime in the near future. Like I said in my previous article, whoever bought the property on the listing (which is still up and running, FYI) would have possession of it on New Year’s Day, not 7/30 like other people have said. Bape also might just be testing the real estate waters, and still be in the “testing process” to see if it would be a smart move to sell the property as well. Who knows at this point…
