Staple Design x Kidrobot

Jeff Staple’s pigeon motif has caused riots in the past. When it dawned the heel of a 2005 Nike SB (simply entitled the ‘NYC Pigeon’), people went crazy trying to get their hands on one of the 30 numbered pairs, so much so that those lucky enough to get themselves the shoe were escorted out the back door and driven home to avoid the mobs. Well Staple Design are back with another pigeon based collaboration – this time with Kidrobot – and whilst I don’t think it’s a riot starter, a hefty line is sure to form.

Limited to 800 pieces, the toy is basically a re-imagining of Staple’s take of New York City’s native bird. Being that the toy’s ‘official’ title is the Staple Tyre Pigeon, I’m guessing it’s meant to look like the bird is in fact made out of tyres of some sort. As I’m sure some of you are aware; no winged rat is complete without some excrement and so a rather realistic plastic bird shit comes as an accessory to the 8-inch tall plastic bird.

The toy will be available at Kidrobot NY as of the 3rd of November and Kidrobot LA on the 4th. Between the limited numbers and rumours that Jeff Staple himself will be present at both releases, this is sure to be a big deal…
