When people ask me what my interests include, they usually give me a look of skepticism when I mention the word “fashion”. They give me another once over, re-evaluate my words, and regard me with a certain detachment, as if fashion somehow knocks a digit off of my IQ. Fashion is not a trivial thing; it employs hundreds of thousands of garment workers, marketers, designers, photographers, producers, artists, visionaries, editors, writers, art directors, seamstresses, fabric manufacturers, chemists, and even us, your humble writers here on AHOODIE.com. It gives people a means to express themselves, as quietly or as flamboyantly as they please.
Fashion’s Night Out 2010 PSA from Fashion’s Night Out on Vimeo.
If you missed the news of last year’s Fashion’s Night Out, it is an initiative started by Anna Wintour, the Editor-In-Chief of Vogue, to revitalize the industry amidst the grips of an economic crisis. Hundreds of designers, models and fashion insiders hopped on board, keeping the stores of NYC open until 11 PM with exclusive parties, guest appearances, and once-in-a-lifetime sales. This year, the event is even bigger, staging a fashion show in the core of New York City, and spreading internationally to cities like Los Angeles, and even Canada. This Fashion’s Night Out PSA is brought to you by Vogue, Peter Lindbergh (Vogue photographic legend) and the FNO tee shirt, which benefits the NYC AIDS fund.
For more information, events in your area and where to buy the official FNO t-shirt, check out the website here.
