Everything's coming up KAWS; t-shirts, Levi's Jeans, skate and snowboards...even New York City! So naturally a store in TOKYO would be next?!?!
Snuggly nestled in Aoyama Tokyo, this store, a collaborative effort from Brooklyn-based artist KAWS and design powerhouse Katayama, is nothing short of B-A-N-A-N-A-S. Looking for a special gift, look no further; anything purchased at this store is certain to be one of a kind and will likely turn heads.
KAWS' giant signature figurine encased in glass, divides the store in two and allows you to choose from taking a stroll along its white-gloved exterior, or, if you've always wondered what cartoon intestines look like, you may browse along-side the figurines exposed interior. The entire store design is riddled with teasers. It seems as though everything in it exudes hidden meanings; from the statues symbolism to the floorings colorful expression of the "original" versus the "fake". Even the walls would benefit from a label, perhaps a "Warning: Wall Tiles are not as sophisticated as they appear". Yeah, that's right! Take a closer look, even the tiles bear the mark of the "X"!

In other X-eyed, white-gloved news, KAWSxREAS have created two new figures for the original to play with and I have a feeling these ones bounce! "The Twins", look like they know how to have fun! They've got tons of "junk" in their trunk and even in their front. Before you get too excited and plan your days with THE TWINS, be advised that these hotties are only 8-inches. THE TWINS were released at the OriginalFake store on June 20th, and apparently there are only 500 pieces available worldwide. So if it was love at first sight between you and THE TWINS, I hope you believe in the power of love, because you'll have to have some kind of powers to get your hands on a pair of these puppies!
