Started in 2008 in Bay Area, California, KusoVinyl began as a humble toy retailer. As their store gained popularity, so did their Rolodex, soon including Rotobox, Maihiro and Itokin Park among their collaborators. From there, the toy store evolved into the toy production company, working with increasingly streetwise brands to translate their design philosophies into high-end toys. In 2009, they collaborated with Kidrobot to produce the Ninja Spiki, an instant bestseller that sold out in less than 24 hours.
Their toys are, to put it simply, the coolest shit since tetra-packed red wine. Dramatic personages and attitudes give these toys a presence that is perhaps lacking in other toys that fail to move beyond “cute”. Their store, which continues to carry Eastern and Western brands alike, displays a variety of aesthetics that I have never seen before. Besides, Munny never had badassery encoded in his DNA like this badass Fahrenheit OG model above.
We’re working with Kuso right now to bring something very special to our readers, so stay tuned (add us to your RSS readers, set alarms on your iPhone 4′s, share on Facebook, etc.) for more info on that.
