MIKE AND MAAIKE: STOLEN JEWELS
Our Ahoodie graphic artist by day, and (porno)graphic artist by night, stumbled upon this great find in the art of graphic manipulation.

Upon initial arrival on the jewelry’s website, I actually paused for a moment, waiting for the images to load. But alas, my eyes played no tricks on me. Indeed, these jewels are MEANT to look like a blurry low-res image that takes 10 minutes to fully load cuz your (read: my) computer-illiterate mother, has infected said computer by clicking on every pop-up window that says “CLICK ME!!!”, simply because they asked her to, and you (read: I) forgot to use password protection before she came to visit. Ok, deep breath……………phewww.
According to the artists, Maaike Evers and Mike Simonian, these pieces are “an exploration in tangible vs. virtual in relation to real and perceived value”. They used Google’s image search option to find low-res images of some of the world’s most famous jewelry, then transferred these images to leather. Thus creating pieces which attract the eye due to their complete and utter lack of those precise qualities that their fancier counterparts are renown for: detail and intricacy. *Pause for applause*
The icing on this cake is that this jewelry collection is just a slice of the perpetual pie that is their art. This team of designers have designed a variety of equally mind-f*cking products which are both visually appealing, and useful. Even those of you who are sedentary gamers with little to no exposure to the outside world, can see the beauty of their work through their design of the Xbox 360 console.
