Alexander McQueen dies at 40

The fashion world’s leading voices have paid tribute to the “genius” of Alexander McQueen, the British designer found dead at home in London, after an apparent suicide just over a week after his mother died.

He was a great designer and source of inspiration for this blog. Life shouldn’t have to end like this. RIP Alexander McQueen

    Thats just sad, I saw this on Yeezy’s Blog.

    I heard about this in class, and felt like crying. First Yves, then Margiela, and now McQueen. What’s next, Nicolas Ghesquiere for Balenciaga?! The world is ending, one designer at a time. =(

    yo vidal, it is a sad day indeed but martin margiela isnt dead man. ur scaring people lol.

  • Vidal

    i know margiela isn’t dead, but he might as well be, because he barely existed in the public eye in the first place.

    @Vidal
    are you serious man? hes one of the most famous designers today. iconic figures like kanye, jay z, pharrell and many more wear his clothing. his clothing is priced so high its more expensive than louis vuitton. just because u havent heard about someone doesnt mean hes dead in the public eye… common man

    hes a very well known designer and has much respect in the fashion industry. u ever listen to run this town by jay z he says: im in maison martin margiela, On the tape we’re screamin/what its the other side, they jealous”

    he has 10 flagship stores around the world, in cities like paris, tokyo, milan, new york… major fashion capitals.

    im just saying bro, no beef or anything, just pointing out what ur missing dude

    i’m quite aware of margiela’s influence, thank you.
    perhaps I didn’t make myself clear: the public never got a solid image of him. we don’t know if martin margiela is actually a person, or if it was simply a design team all these years. of course, you can read reports from people who’ve worked with him and whatnot, but for me, the idea of margiela is far more affluent than whatever corporeal realization he had in the media (if any).

    so basically, the man himself didn’t physically exist for me, but his work does. sorry for the misunderstanding.

    yeah, i realized what you meant after i posted my long rant.

    but every designer works with a team, but personally, i think martin margiela is just like any other fashion powerhouse. i mean, a group of people with equal amount of talent can produce very nice products but it doesnt seem as if this is the case for the martin margiela brand.

    but anyway, thats my opinion. from the products that ive seen and have purchased (very few), it just seems to me that ideas coming from the brand seems to direced by one person, i mean, the number pallet to indicate sizes on clothing and shoes seems very innovative and all that. but, nice conversation nonetheless.
