Guess who just decided to come out of the closet ? No silly, it’s not your gay cousin Gizelle (No offense to any Gizelle’s out there) or one of the AHOODIE writers (me) who’s been acting like a lazy bum with the rest of the staff for the past weeks. It’s the Nike Air Yeezys who finally decided to come out Kanye’s damn closet. The first orange/gray colorway is to be released this month, the black next month and finally the beige ones in June.
Word on the street is that they go for 215$ if you’re lucky to find them in stores otherwise you can try your luck on Ebay most of the shoes go for 500$ and up or are fakes so best beware we will try to make a guide on spotting fake ones as soon as possible.

“If you can’t beat them join them !” The quote goes, but as for Nike, losing is not an option. Nike has followed the same path that other sneaker companies have taken by letting you design your own Custom model of shoes because it seems like Foot Locker doesn’t have enough variety for us. (No seriously, the models are always the same.) Anyhow Nike, Puma, Reebok, and a few other brands have that feature for several of their models. So if you’re feeling creative why don’t you jump on over at Nike and create yourself some Dunks to call a masterpiece of your own.

DC Shoes lends their Xander model for a little colouring book style fun with Lemar & Dauley. It’s not the first time the Brooklyn-based Lemar & Dauley have worked on sneaker projects, they’re becoming veterans at that game. Using suede as their medium, with tone-on-tone leather accents, L & D paint the DC shoe in a “Puerto Rico” shade (at least that what they’re calling it on over at Name That Colour). Keep an eye out for them at select DC Shoes retailers for $130 USD.

Whoever said continuity was important ? Proof : We haven’t been continuing our 7 days/week basis much lately, but we’re working on creating a new dope monster Ahoodie that will eat any other beasts out there. *Wink Wink Nudge Nudge*
Last month at the 2009 Compass Trade show in Vegas, Alife dropped these joints featuring an all over Alife pattern that doesnt seem to continue anywhere. I guess it could be considered a contemporary piece of art demonstrating that what is expected to be there isn’t there, but you can imagine the continuity. For example, the post you were expecting tomorrow is there. You just can’t see it yet.

The Kanye cauldron is a-brewin’, and I have a feeling we’ll get slapped with some Pastelle or Past.Tell product realllll soon. We’re going to give Ye the benefit of doubt, and assume there’s some kind of method to this longtime madness. We’re thinking he’s going to let the Air Jeezy’s drop. then the Louis V’s, and THEN…AT LONG LAST, we’ll get an official peek at his collection…or at the very least he’ll clear up the name and confirm whether its Pastelle, or Past.Tell, or Past.Hell or whatever!
In the meantime, here’s another sneak-peek as some Yeezy’s for your cheesies. Feast your eyes on the latest image leaks of Kanye’s collab sneakers with Monsieur Louis Vuitton. The black suede with the ankle strap is straight class, and the brown and pink colourways make me want to hit up a Robbins. Look out for them June 2009.

Kanye West and NIKE’s collaborative effort, the Air Yeezy, is finally set to drop this spring in monthly intervals. The first to drop will be the gray colourway in April, followed by the black colourway in May and the tan colourway in June. Get ready to see these ALL OVER the place, I have a feeling these are going to be big!
Props to Kanye for his subtle Yeezyfication of the shoe. The Air Yeezys feature a glow in the dark outsole, a “Y” shaped lacelock, and a “Y” allover print on the toe.

Another AHOODIE Style Tip…I don’t care if its not Monday!
So, since you all loved BBC/Ice Cream’s recent Stars in Space hoodies SOOO MUCH (or not so much), we’ve got your next over-priced Billionaire Boys purchase on lock!
BBC/Ice Cream’s new Chuck Taylor Converse style sneakers, feature the same “Stars in Space” pattern previously seen on their black and white hoodies. Don’t expect a deal on these puppies either, it wouldn’t be fair to those of you who bought the hoodies! The sneakers retail for an equally overpriced $210 USD, and are available now at Standard.
Pharrell says: “Recession…what recession?!”

Fashion always repeats itself, usually coming back with something just a little different. High tops are back in action with a little twist. We like to call this new high top cut “Mo’ High Tops”, cuz they’re mo’ modern, mo’ stylin’ and mo’ high! The back ankle height is about the same as high tops have always been, but this remixed cut has a higher front. Nike’s never one to leave behind a trend so they’ve created another Lifestyle model to fit the wave of highs.
The shoes will be available before the summer for 95$ USD.

Vans SP09 Watermelon Pack
It goes without saying that Vans’ design team has a thing for melons…watermelons, that is. It began here with their Watermelon checked Sk8 Highs:
And now, they’ve got a full-blown fetish! Due out this Spring 2009 season, is Van’s Fruit Collection, with highlights including their “Watermelon Pack”. This fruity pack features slip-on, Chukka, and Era fits, adorned with a green sole and red upper with watermelon seed print.
Set to release as early as January 2009, no need to ask your girl to match your prints – Watermelon are the Spring equivalent of this Fall’s Buffalo check, they’re all up in yo face! …BIG, FAT, PLUMP, JUICY waterMELONS on your chest:

Medicom Toy X Clot have been exposing their melons on a series of polo’s and tees showcasing a tasty-looking Bearbrick, as well as a denim collaboration with Levis:

Both the denim and shirts are available at Juice in Hong Kong as of December 22nd, and online at CLOTinc.com. Great as a last minute gift, the denims are packaged in a Bearbrick all-over printed, recyclable envelope.
In case you were wondering whether apes, of the bathing variety, celebrate Christmas………..we don’t really have a definitive answer for you. HOWEVER, we can say that they do get into the spirit of giving……giving style advice that is, because these sneakers are nowhere near free! Zing!
Available in a holiday green/red colourway, Bape’s “Christmas” Bapesta’s feature the same Tartan pattern seen on the BAPE x Isetan Pop-up store product.
Also checkout this crazy selection of high-top Bapesta’s, one for each of BAPE’s twenty-one different Original Bapesta hoodies, being released individually at each of their flagship stores.

“AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!” is the sound of my screaming upon realizing that Christmas is fast-approaching and I have yet to make my first holiday purchase. Coincidentally, it is the same sound I make when I’m attacked my birds on my way to getting a coffee the morning after a bender (somehow the mornings after a bender, I wake up with Amy Winehouse hair…so really I can’t blame the birds for mistaking my head for their nests). Which leads us to the next item on my “if you love me, you’ll buy this for me” list- “The Birds” Barbie. That’s right folks, its the Barbie you always hoped to have, but never thought they’d make. Marking the 45th anniversary of Alfred Hitchcock’s acclaimed film, Mattel’s “The Birds” Barbie immortalizes a famed scene, and is available for purchase here.
Yet another pair of kicks sneaks into my list, this time its the M-85 Mid, a version of the popular Missouri 85, a collaboration between Japan’s Mita Sneakers and one of my personal favourites, Lacoste. The Lacoste x Mita Sneakers M-85 Mid is set to drop next month, and will be limited to only 150 pairs.

Gucci inspired sneakers from Nike and Vans
We’re still eagerly awaiting the release of Gucci’s Spring ’09 collection so we can get our hands on these, but in the meantime, some other brands are keeping us distracted with their “odes to Gucci” and its signature black, green and red trademark stripes.

Nike recently released these kicks which keeps its references in the laces and stripe detailing around the top eyelet. Of special interest on this Gucci inspiration, is the black-on-black paisley print on the toe of the shoe.

Our prefered pair is this Vans collaboration with Crooks and Castles. Unfortunately for some, this white colourway will only be available at the 8021 Melrose Flagship store, in very limited quantity. From the croc detailing on the heels and sides, to the trademark Gucci-style ankle strap. Everything comes together to make a sneaker with the same luxurious touch often associated with the Italian powerhouse.
Funny Gucci fact: Did you know that in 1972 Gucci collaborated with AMC (the American Motors Society) to develop the Hornet compact Sportabout stationwagon, the cars featured boldly striped green, red, and beige upholstery and on the door panels, as well as the designer’s emblems and exterior color selections. The car was SO hot (at the time) that it was featured in James Bond’s ‘The Man With The Golden Gun’.

Pastelle Clothing to be released in January
Well the “Love Lockdown” on Kanye’s Pastelle clothing line has finally been lifted, and Yeezy himself has announced that he’ll be releasing some items from the collection online starting in January. To be precise, the items scheduled for release are three pieces recently seen on Kanye: The warrior hoodie from the Dior show, the jacket from the AMA’s, and the above varsity style jacket (the last two personally designed by Yeezy just 3 weeks ago).
Mr.West has said that his shoe collab with Louis Vuitton is “REEEEETARDED” and that the much anticipitated “Air Yeezy” sneakers will be released in March.

Nike “Nintendo” Air Max BW
Available now at select Nike retailers, the Nike “Nintendo” Air Max. Inspired by the original Nintendo Entertainment System, these kicks feature the same color-story (black, gray, white & red) as the popular video game console. Applying the same base design as the classic Air Max series, they’ve incorporated some Nintendo tributes such as the D-pad print and the “Start” button near the top eyelets of the sneakers.

If you thought Nintendo’s original Entertainment System was old, get a load of this: Nintendo Company Ltd has been in existence since wayyyy back in 1889, the same year the Coca-Cola Company was incorporated. Back then, Nintendo made Hanafuda playing cards. The company dabbled in all sorts of things from taxis, to love hotels (if you don’t know, Wiki-it), to a television network, to instant rice before launching its ground-breaking video game system.

Kidrobot x Shofolk:The Alaric
While no one was looking, they hopped into the sack…and now we’ve got The Alaric on our hands! Don’t they say interracial couples make the best looking babies, well same goes for shoes! And just like my parents did, they even gave this shoe a fancy name they can hardly pronounce (lucky for me, they had two trial attempts on my brother and sister first). Alaric was a Visigothic King, and its also a Germanic name that, when broken down, means Ala “everyone’s” and ric “ruler”.
This Alaric is a great transition shoe, in that its oxford qualities are a “shoe-in” for your work/business-casual functions; meanwhile its trainer physique can take you to the streets when the clock strikes 3:30pm (hey! they don’t call them “everyone’s ruler” for nothing, get the shoes to command everyone to go home early!). Made from gray suede with blue accents, the shoe has tons of detail work including the Robothead logo etched into the suede and a multi-colored Kidrobot label on the heel.
As per usual with Kidrobot collabs, only 100 pairs of the shoes are being produced and will retail at £120. They’ll be available at Kidrobot stores, Folk’s London location, as well as online.
BAPE’s Bapesta88′s in metallic gold and silver
…we LOVE these kicks!
As part of A Bathing Ape’s Fall/Winter 08 collection being sold at BAPE stores worldwide, the low-tops run at about $200USD and the hightops’ll set you back about $215USD. We’re told the first pairs were sold to Michael Johnson (at which point he used a time machine to travel back to 1996 so he could sport them at the Summer Olympics in Atlanta) and Suri Cruise…

Married To The Mob x Nike Dunk Hi Supreme
Years ago when Ebony & Ivory first got together, nobody thought they’d last the test of time. Two young and innocent kids, unaware of the harsh and cruel world they were about to face.
Well its decades later and this pair is still going strong! Stevie had it right; Ebony & Ivory : Living in perfect harmony! And they’ve decided to celebrate their love with the release of a sneaker which perfectly expresses their coexistence as not only lovers, but friends.
Nike and Married To The Mob put together a great looking sneaker featuring not only contrasting coulours, but also contrasting fabrics. Black patent leather, paired with a white woven cotton, not unlike the waffle-knit longjohns we’ll soon be sporting for the winter. The golden MOB logos featured on the tongue, lacelock and side panel, give this shoe the touch of class it so deserves. We’re told this Nike and Married to the Mob collab is very limited in quantity and available only at select store. For now, you can cop them at http://teampatta.nl
ADIDAS ORIGINALS X JEREMY SCOTT:METRO ATTITUDE
I can’t stand the rain… my hair frizzes, and even though people tell me I look like Tyra, I’m not TRYING to look like this:

However, if I’m so lucky as to get my hands on a pair of these puppies, a collab between cooky-character Jeremy Scott and Adidas; I may be able to fly myself off to shelter before my hair turns “FIERCE!”.

GREEDY GENIUS:COOL BREEZE AVALANCHE
If I were to bump into this shoe on the street, on its way to meet its friends for lunch, I’d say:”Hey…What’s your name?…Where you goin’ with that laid-back swagger?…Ya know, you look freshhhhhh…ya know they say never to judge a book by its cover, well you look soooo clean, I bet your thoughts are NOTHING but dirty…heh..mmmm… so listen, let me buy you a drink and you can tell me allllll about those dirty thoughts”

New 2008 / 2009 Autumn / Winter bape sta shoes
In the words of Chris Rock, we’re ‘Tired, tired, tired’ of telling you how tired, tired, tired we are of BAPE’s ‘tired’, recycled Bapesta design. We said it before, we’ll say it again: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Although we at Ahoodie are strong believers that an old dog is never too old to learn new tricks, and we think its about time Nigo sends these puppies to obedience school! The runners are all about 150$ USD (13,000 to 17,000 Yen.) or eight-thousand-one-hundred-fifty dollars including the plane ticket to Japan. They can be purchased at any Footsoldier stores for the bape soldier in you. Check out the visuals.
